Up-tober Sky

In spite of our challenges this quarter, we’ve still managed to make it our largest to date (116% increase).

The relationships with our core 3 brands is on strong footing (one of them sent us to a Marketing AI conference) with all contracts extending past the new year; and with a bump in monthly earnings to boot. Our forecast says we may even top this quarter to close out the year at an all time high.

If you remember our conversation just last month, we were looking forward to being through this portion of our slog. We’ve got another month of paying down past debts, but with the new revenue in our sails; we’re looking towards growth again.

Oh, and I officially crossed my own threshold into becoming a full stack developer. Thanks HackMidwest. No repeat hackathon win for me, but I have competency now; having leveraged github to deploy a project to a cloud environment, schedule regular database updates, and now, finally having built a front end for users to interact with the data like a real application.

growbot will be coming soon, one way or another.

*if you need a refresher, we’ve been on a mission to build a smart wallet for digital identity since October 2020, because, especially in the age of AI, we believe people should have full ownership over their data & digital breadcrumb trail.

While my rosy-lensed intro points towards my perpetual optimism, and the quarterly aggregation of the data surely supports it, there’s still plenty of work to be done to get us investment ready. Our past pitches/conversations with investors have primarily revolved around 3 themes, loving growbot & hating web3, hating growbot & loving web3, or our most frequent and basic response, “can you show it to me”.

We’ll for that 3rd group we may finally start to have an answer and we are hoping the “love web3” folks will see the revenue we can generate with the software and sing a different tune.

The shedding of our subcontracting work, and focusing on our client direct revenue has been most evident in my personal confidence as a developer, and the way that that work has been able to directly speed up product development for growbot.

And while we do sit at the same bottleneck we have for the last several months, I now have a front-end connected to the backend that is competing with the first version in a race to deployment. One is styled & pretty, but dumb, and this new one, fugly and functional. If I can learn some style and design, it’s over for external devs. Sorry tio 😉, but I’m sure we can still deploy this in MX together.

Product development and client delivery haven’t been the only focus of the business. We also had the opportunity to attend MAICON (s/o to Soundbooth Theater), where we connected with thousands of other marketers , technical & creative from across the world leading to some potential new clients & plenty of new tactics to leverage in growbot.

We were also invited to speak on the future of web3 at KC Imagine Conference by Troy Carlson of the KC Futures DAO, a one day event focused on the future of digital media.

Both of these events served to re-engage prospective clients or generate new leads.

And from the cost breakdown above, you can see how the belt is tightening. We expect to keep our expenses around $6k / mo, with revenue closer to $8k for the next 3 months; here’s to closing the year ahead.

  • I’m spending most of October in Michigan and am looking for introductions to Pre-Seed Investors//Angels to fund product development and commercialization of growbot

OR, and probably an even better intro,

would be to a Small to Medium sized business owner, who is looking to change Advertising Agencies. Companies like:

    • La-Z-Boy

    • Carhartt

    • Belle Tire

    OR

    • Moosejaw

    • Art Van

    • Founders Brewing

What all of these businesses have in common is that there are consumer facing brands that are spending more than $5k / mo on their advertising. $5k is our minimum monthly ad spend.

For our Kansas City readers, and those across the country. We are a remote first company, doing digitally native work, can travel to you as needed, and are looking forward to winning your business as well.
